New piping

Construction workers replace piping in the East Turnaround area on Tuesday. The workers are replacing the medium-pressure piping, which provides heating for upper campus, and high-pressure piping, which feeds the central plant. The medium-pressure piping will be finished today. The construction workers will connect the high-pressure piping on Monday, during a furlough day, to minimize disruption, said Pat Farrell, a DMCP worker. The piping was broken for some time and was last replaced more than 30 years ago.

Fountains

The fountain at Brotman Hall is undergoing some maintenance in the summer months.

Hall of Sciences construction begins?

Construction workers are on site again and moving about. Has enough funding come back to restart construction on the future Hall of Sciences building?

Hall of Science construction restarting?

After construction of the new Hall of Sciences was halted, the construction crews were gone and all we got was a massive hole in the ground. But today, are they back? Or what? Are they just surveying the land? Have investors begun buying the bonds necessary for construction to restart?

Slanted stop

A stop sign outside the SSPA building is slanted oddly. Based on its angle, I'm guessing that the construction crews of the Outpost had something to do with it – I can imagine some kind of dump truck going backwards and accidentally hitting the sign. I have a hard time believing a car would be driving sideways across the road to hit it like that.

Hall of Sciences construction

Construction on the new PH3 Hall of Sciences building construction is humming along. They're apparently trying to make the ground smooth and flat before starting a foundation. The Daily 49er has an article titled "Hall of Science will allow more extensive research" with a wider angle. I like this shot better because it shows the workers at work.

Camera installation

Long Chang from Moore Electric installs a surveillance camera around campus. This one was just outside the SSPA building, on the light post closest to the shuttle stop for the Beach Cruiser service. The Daily 49er has an article titled "Cameras secure CSULB" that discusses the new cameras.

Outpost construction advances

Construction workers have advanced from digging out dirt and such to putting posts in, possibly to start laying a foundation down.

Pulling down the PH3, piece by piece

Workers began tearing down one of many brick walls on the roof of the PH3. Demolition must be piece by piece; it cannot be knocked down to its proximity to other buildings.
